Electric Feel: Proenza Schouler Spring 2010
Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, designers of Proenza Schouler, showed the most electrifying and exciting collection at NY Fashion Week. Inspired by anything "off-shore" like surfing and skateboarding, the duo created a collection filled with youthful energy. Oh I love it!
Say ooh girl, shock me like an electric eel.
Baby girl, turn me on with your electric feel.

Sunday Secrets: Teddy Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt, in my opinion, is one of the best all-around presidents this country has ever seen. Concerned about the people, the land, and the spirit of America, Teddy made history with all of his programs, and changed our country forever.
His resume is quite impressive. He became our 26th president when President McKinley was assassinated in 1901. Forty-two at the time, Roosevelt was the youngest president ever in office. Besides being president, Roosevelt was also a soldier, hunter, and nature enthusiast. As a child, Teddy was very sickly, so he spent most of his time studying natural science and developing a love for the outdoors. He is the one responsible for setting aside national parks such as Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and Yosemite.
About the Grand Canyon, Roosevelt said... "Leave it as it is. You cannot imporve on it. The ages have been at work on it, and man can only mar it. What you can do is keep it for your children, your children's children, and for all who come after you, as one of the great sights which every American if he can travel at all should see... Whatever it is, handle it so that your children's children will get the benefit of it."
If you ever get the chance to go to any of these places... go! I never understood the beauty of our country from photographs. To witness land that has been untouched by man is so moving. This summer I had the opportunity to go to the Grand Canyon and Yosemite, and since leaving, I have developed a new passion for conservation and awareness about the world around us. Thank you, Teddy, for giving us this wonderful gift.

Goodbye Zenergy
So this summer in California, one of my professors told me that I had to go this little yoga studio in Petaluma called Zenergy yoga. So I did. Zenergy yoga was in a beautiful little studio with a whole wall of windows in the front with a fantastic view of the woods. The classes were fun, the instructors were great... a little zany, but still awesome, and the owner was so nice and welcoming. Well, I got an email from them this week that they're having to shut their doors because of the slower traffic in the studio because of the economy. Damn the economy. This news is further motivation to go support my local businesses.
Good-bye Zenergy

Baby, Baby
So, my best friend from San Francisco, Kellyn is an AMAZING artist. She's really talented, and has this crazy ability to draw really really well. I am obsessed with her rainbow drawings, and pretty much her marker drawings in particular. She's so good at ceramics, sewing, drawing, and painting... and I'm obsessed with her stuff! Check some of it out! and then go look at her blog...
Oh and just in case you didn't figure it out or know already... all of those drawings are hers... isn't she great? Hope you're having fun in Mexico, Kellyn!!!! Baby, Baby.
I want these Kate Moss shoes SO BAD! Too bad I don't have any money.

Perfect Combination: Rain and the White Stripes
This past week, Central Texas has been covered in sheets of rain. I love rainy days. They're a wonderful break to our normally very hot days, and I love having an afternoon where I can be lazy and nap while it rains. Well, after six days of rain and mist and "spit", it is safe to say that I am ready for the rain to be OVER. Okay, so I tried doing some research, but I really couldn't find any facts or numbers... but we've had inches and inches of rain. You're just going to have to trust me. It's been raining A LOT. Saturday night I went out in rainboots. That's how intense it's been. I was like, "I'll be the cutest girl at the party... even in my boots", and I don't know if it's because I'm a senior, but I've kind of started to feel like I can do whatever I want to and it's cool.
Anyways, this morning I was leaving my environmental lab, and I stepped out into the spitting rain without an umbrella, and I couldn't help but play the song "The Air Near My Fingers" in my head. Oh I love the White Stripes... except when Meg sings. Ugh, sorry Meg, but you are the worst. Please let Jack sing. Okay well anyways, when I got home I couldn't help but think... The White Stripes are the perfect band for a rainy day... they just have this energy that really compliments the crisp, wet air.

So, next time it rains... or right now, put on some of Jack & Meg's music. GO GO GO!
Yeah, NOW!
Yeah, NOW!

Secrets.
Okay, so... every Sunday I read Frank Warren's blog and hope that one of the secrets will speak to me. Sometimes I really can't relate to them, but this week... oh, this week, I know exactly what this girl is talking about.
So, I'm in a sorority, and although I don't feel the same way about mine as this girl does, I can really relate to what she is saying. Every once and a while, I daydream about who I would kick out if I could. I use the term "voting people off the island" to try and make it seem less mean, but really, I know that it's a pretty nasty thing to do. Oh well. They don't know about it.

Stress Bomb
I wish I were in San Francisco. Things make sense there. If I could be there right now, you would probably find me here, at the Palace of Fine Arts reading a book and laying on a blanket. Instead, I'm sitting in Panera bread, trying to write a paper, watching the rainclouds crawl across the sky, and thinking too much. I wish I could just fly to San Francisco and escape from my thoughts... I mean, they would probably follow me there, but San Francisco is far enough away from my real life that I could ditch them in Texas, you know? Oh well. Maybe there comes a point that you have all these thoughts and stresses that just build up and then something amazing has to happen to get everything to just go away.
(I'm kind of hoping that this is what will happen.)

I love college
So this morning I woke up and had a total Asher Roth moment. You know? Like... that party last night was awfully crazy, I wish we'd taped it... and then I was like, oh my gosh Asher Roth is totally adorable and has great style... so I'm going to put him on my blog! woah.
Oh yeah, that's Kid Cudi on the left... and he's got the most awesome sneakers I've seen this week...
Oh so he really did go to college... at least for a year and a half. He attended West Chester University... (yeah, I haven't heard of it, either) and he was studying Elementary Education. Cute, huh? I bet he did that so he could meet girls...
I love how he's always wearing a jacket or sweater from American Apparel and then he'll wear a really cool t-shirt or something under it, and of course really relaxed jeans. He's been quoted saying that he doesn't have to dress like a typical rapper (since he would look out of place). "I can still love hip-hop" (and not dress that way) he says.
